Patrycja Markowska, Mateusz Ziolko, Kasia Moś, Tadeusz Seibert and several other great music stars on one stage – their amazing performances await you at the “Strength for Olaf” Charity Concert, which will take place on April 4 in the Old Manezh in Gdansk. The entire amount from the concert will be donated for the treatment of the boy, who needs as much as 15 million zlotys, so we hope that together with the stars we will help him fulfill his dream: to beat a serious disease.
Olaf Krasnowski is just a two-year-old from Gdansk, Poland, who suffers from the rare, severe genetic disease Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Unfortunately, the boy’s disease is leading him every day to progressive and irreversible muscle atrophy and premature death. Olaf’s parents, however, are not giving up. In addition to daily rehabilitation, they opted for high-tech gene therapy, which is only available in the United States. Its cost is more than 15 million zlotys, making it one of the world’s most expensive drugs.
Olaf’s parents are trying to raise this astronomical amount through the Siepomaga.pl portal(https://www.siepomaga.pl/olaf-krasnowski), but the amount raised so far is still a drop in the ocean of needs. The problem is all the greater because the disease progresses rapidly, and more groups of muscles are lost irreversibly. In fact, Olaf’s parents have just a few months left to raise the necessary amount for treatment and hospitalization in the United States.
However, there are people who are not indifferent to Olaf’s plight. Among them are the stars who will play during the special “Strength for Olaf” Charity Concert at the Old Manezh in Gdansk. On April 4, you will be able to see Patrycja Markowska, Mateusz Ziolko, Kasia Moś, Tadeusz Seibert, Judyta Wenda, Kris Forbot and Adela Konop on stage, and the artists will play with a band led by Adam Lemanczyk. – I’m glad that such great stars agreed without hesitation to play for Olaf without remuneration, so that the full amount from ticket sales will go precisely for the boy’s treatment. I am also grateful to all other sponsors and partners who want to help Olaf. As you can see, there is no shortage of good hearts, and together we can really do a lot! – says Piotr Blaszczyk, the main organizer of the concert, who has been creating summer and winter camps for children and young people for 19 years.
The K2 Zaborowscy Foundation, run by Karolina Kowalkiewicz (an MMA fighter who has fought in the UFC) and her husband Lukasz Zaborowski, also joined in organizing the event. – When we heard Olaf’s story, we immediately decided to help with the
every possible aspect. We support not only young athletes or children from orphanages, but anyone who needs help. We are keeping our fingers crossed for Olaf and invite you to buy tickets,” says Karolina Kowalkiewicz, president of the K2 Zaborowscy Foundation.
The event at the Old Manezh in Gdansk (23 Slowackiego St.) will begin at hrs. 17, where food booths and many other attractions will be waiting. The actual concerts will begin at hrs. 19.
